Why Wool?
Wool is a fibre that has been used for centuries because of its many incredible qualities and versatility.
Breathable and moisture-wicking. Merino wool fibres are able to absorb large quantities of moisture vapour and then move it away to evaporate into the air.
This makes it very breathable, keeping nipples dry and healthy. This also means that the pads dry very quickly so you never have dampness on your breasts for long. Great for our OverNaps and wicking away any sneaky nappy leaks!
Temperature regulating. The fibres react to body temperature, keeping you cool when it is hot and warm when it is cold. This unique property has shown to be incredibly beneficial for women suffering from Vasospasm, where it is important to keep nipples warm and dry, and to avoid sudden temperature changes.
Absorbent. Merino wool is able to absorb up to 1/3rd of its weight in moisture without feeling damp, heavy or clammy. Merino wool dries super-fast due to its moisture-wicking and breathable qualities.
Odour-resistant. Naturally odour-resistant, the power of merino wool helps to keep your wool products smelling fresh all day long. Because of the wool fibre’s ability to effectively manage moisture, any odour-causing bacteria doesn’t have the moist environment it needs to thrive. This means no yucky old milk, urine or sweat smells.
Anti-bacterial. Merino wool is naturally anti-bacterial because of the lanolin in the wool, how amazing is that?
This helps keep your nipples healthy and safe for your breast-fed baby, by preventing any harmful bacteria.
Soft. Merino wool fibres are very fine, silky and flexible, meaning you won’t experience any uncomfortable itching or scratchy feeling from the wool being on yours or your babe’s sensitive skin.
